Description

This is the Genuine Rovan BAJA 710 MAX Silver 72cc Monster, a special order, enthusiast grade, large scale RC vehicle built for extreme power, weight, and durability. This is not a toy and not an entry level platform.

The 710 MAX is powered by a 71cc single cylinder, air cooled, two stroke gasoline engine, equipped with a Walbro WJ71 carburetor and NGK spark plug. The drivetrain is rear wheel drive with rear axle braking, supported by a full metal differential shell, wear resistant 8000 RPM clutch, and extensive CNC metal upgrades throughout the chassis.

This model features a full CNC metal BAHA MAX kit, metal roll cage with integrated handles, CNC symmetrical steering system, CNC rear shock mounts and tie rods, CNC headlights, CNC oil pot cover, and a reinforced integrated hexagonal clutch cup kit. A new rear wing and updated proportioning pot complete the latest configuration.

Assembly and Operation:

Out of the box, the vehicle is ready to run once the wheels are installed and the battery is charged. A minimum 2 hour charge is recommended before first use.

Battery Charging:

Charging is done through the built in charging plug using the included USB charger. No disassembly is required. Allow the battery to cool for 30 minutes after a full charge before operation. Remove the charger within 30 minutes of the green light to extend battery life. Store the battery fully charged. We use a countdown timer such as item 386419780550.

Crash Durability:

Minor crashes are unlikely to cause significant damage due to the weight, scale, and reinforced metal construction.

Fuel Mixing:

Runs a 25:1 gasoline to oil ratio, equivalent to 151.4 ml per gallon. Use non synthetic, mineral based 2 cycle oil only. Excellent results have been achieved with Evinrude Johnson Premium TC W3 Mineral 2 Cycle Oil, UPC 745419363093, available at Walmart in 1 gallon or 16 oz containers. This oil minimizes carbon buildup and prevents plug fouling. Other mineral based oils may also be used.

Radio Operation:

Although the radio is 6 channel capable, only two channels are used for operation.
Trim controls are under the rear cover:

• Top left: Steering trim

• Top right: Throttle and brake trim

• Bottom left: Steering control extents

• Bottom right: Throttle control extents

Starting Instructions:

1. Power on the radio and vehicle

2. Set the choke to the vertical closed position

3. Prime the carburetor 3 to 4 times until fuel is visible

4. Pull the starter gently until engaged, then use short, quick pulls

5. Once the engine fires, turn off the choke

6. Pull 1 to 2 more times to start

Break In Procedure:

• Run 1: Idle to 1/4 throttle for 5 minutes, then full cool down

• Run 2: Same process for 10 minutes, then cool

• Run 3: Moderate throttle for 8 to 10 minutes, then cool

• Runs 4 to 5: Continue gradual use, monitor cooling

• Final: Full throttle permitted, run through a full tank

After break in, check and snug the exhaust bolts. Before each run, inspect all bolts. Thread locker is recommended on clutch and brake hardware. Clean bolts and holes with alcohol and a q tip before applying thread locker.

Upgrade Note:

Many users attempt to replace plastic components with aluminum. Aluminum is rigid and unforgiving, often transferring impact forces deeper into the chassis. High strength ABS plastic flexes and rebounds, preventing cascading damage. In many locations, plastic components outperform aluminum.
