Description
Overview of the 29cc Rovan RC 5B Buggy Platform
The 29cc Rovan RC 5B Red White & Blue #38 is a true 1/5 scale gasoline-powered off-road buggy designed for drivers who want dependable power, responsive handling, and large-scale realism in a ready-to-run package. Built around a proven 29cc two-stroke engine and reinforced components, this buggy delivers strong torque, stable control, and consistent performance. As a result, the 29cc Rovan RC platform performs confidently across dirt, gravel, and open off-road terrain while remaining easy to operate.
Size, Scale, and Chassis Design of the 29cc Rovan RC
Built to full 1/5 scale proportions, the 29cc Rovan RC buggy offers excellent stability and a planted driving feel. The overall size measures approximately 32.2 inches long, 18.9 inches wide, and 10 inches high, which helps keep the chassis balanced during acceleration and cornering. In addition, the 22.4 inch overall wheelbase and wide front and rear track widths improve straight-line stability and predictable handling on uneven terrain.
Structural Layout and Reinforcement for the 29cc Rovan RC
The chassis incorporates second-generation reinforced front and rear suspension mounting points designed to handle repeated impacts. Because these components flex instead of cracking, they protect drivetrain and suspension parts during rough use. Moreover, a metal differential and reinforced driveline components support durability during aggressive driving sessions.
Engine and Drivetrain Performance of the 29cc Rovan RC
Power comes from a 29cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, two-stroke gasoline engine using a four-point fixed mounting design. This engine provides strong low-end torque and smooth throttle response. In combination with a controlling exhaust pipe and an 8000 clutch, the drivetrain delivers dependable acceleration while maintaining reliability during extended runs. Consequently, the 29cc Rovan RC offers a balance of performance and longevity.
Rear-Wheel Drive and Braking System on the 29cc Rovan RC
The drivetrain uses a rear-wheel-drive layout with a rear axle brake for controlled stopping power. As a result, throttle input feels direct and predictable, especially during corner exits. In addition, the metal differential strengthens power transfer under load, which improves consistency during hard driving.
Suspension, Wheels, and Handling Characteristics of the 29cc Rovan RC
The suspension system plays a key role in how the 29cc Rovan RC buggy performs off-road. Carefully selected components balance impact absorption with precise handling.
Suspension Design and Shock System for the 29cc Rovan RC
Second-generation reinforced front and rear suspension arms work with 0.24-inch shock absorption to manage rough terrain. Because the suspension compresses smoothly, the buggy maintains traction over uneven surfaces. In addition, the suspension geometry supports stability during jumps and hard landings.
Wheels and Tires on the 29cc Rovan RC Buggy
Second-generation wasteland tires mounted on updated wheel hubs provide strong grip on loose surfaces. As a result, the buggy maintains forward bite and lateral control during aggressive off-road driving.
Electronics and Control System for the 29cc Rovan RC
The electronics package focuses on strength and consistent control, allowing confident operation in demanding conditions.
Steering and Throttle Servo System for the 29cc Rovan RC
This buggy includes a 15kg all-metal gear throttle steering gear and a powerful 45kg metal gear steering gear housed in a durable plastic case. Because of this setup, steering response remains precise under load while throttle control stays consistent during acceleration.
2.4G Radio Control Operation on the 29cc Rovan RC
The included 2.4G two-channel remote control operates without an LCD and prioritizes simplicity and reliability. Trim adjustments are located under the rear cover of the transmitter, allowing fine tuning of steering and throttle response. As a result, setup remains straightforward while still offering adjustment flexibility.
Battery and Power Support System for the 29cc Rovan RC
A SC6V 2000 mAh battery supplies power to onboard electronics. Because the battery offers reliable output and simple charging, downtime between runs stays minimal. Therefore, proper charging and storage practices help extend battery life over time.
Packing List
1X RC Car (With Built-in Battery)
1X Transmitter
Assembly and Operation
Out of the Box: Ready to race once the wheels are installed and the car battery has been charged. Minimum 2 hours charge recommended.
Battery Charging
The car features a charging plug and comes with a USB charger. No disassembly required for charging. Allow battery to cool down for 30 minutes after full charge before operation. Remove charger within 30 minutes of full charge (green light) to prolong battery life. Store battery fully charged. Recommended Countdown Timer: https://shorturl.at/FdYdP
Crash Durability
Minor crashes are unlikely to cause significant damage. These cars are tough.
Fuel Mixing
Uses a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio (151.4ml per gallon). Fill the small compartment of the mixing jug to the 25:1 line with oil, then fill the gas compartment to the 25:1 line. Use Non-synthetic aka Mineral Based 2 cycle oil. We’ve had great results with Evinrude Johnson Premium TC-W3 Mineral 2 Cycle Oil, UPC 745419363093 Available at Walmart in 1-gallon or 16oz, which minimizes carbon buildup and avoids plug fouling. Other brands can also be used.
Radio
This 6-channel radio essentially only uses 2 channels with this car. Trim is on the 4 adjustments under the cover on the back of the radio. Top left – steering trim, top right – throttle & brake trim, bottom left – steering control extents, bottom right – throttle control extents.
Starting Instructions for the 29cc Rovan RC
Ensure the car and radio are powered on and responding.
Set the choke on the right side of the car (red lever on the carburetor) to the vertical closed position.
Press the primer bulb on top of the carburetor 3 to 4 times, or once fuel is visible.
Gently pull the starter rope until it engages, then pull swiftly. Do not pull the rope out completely; use short quick pulls.
Crank until the engine fires (usually 1 to 3 pulls).
Turn off the choke, then pull the rope 1 or 2 times to start the engine.
Never crank more than 3 times with the choke on. (refer to https://shorturl.at/RJv1I)
Break-In Process for the 29cc Rovan RC
Initial Run: Start by running the car at idle to 1/4 throttle or less for about 5 minutes. Let the engine cool down completely after this run.
Second Run: Repeat the same process less for 10 minutes, then allow it to cool down.
Third Run: You can start pushing it a little harder, but keep in mind that a new engine generates more heat due to increased friction. Run for 8 to 10 minutes, then let it cool.
Subsequent Runs: Continue the process for about five runs, being mindful of any debris that could block cooling. A clean engine runs cooler.
Final Break-In: After these runs, you can run the car at full throttle and let it burn through an entire tank of fuel.
Post-Break-In: Be sure to check and snug up the exhaust pipe after the initial break-in process.
Before each run check bolts throughout the car to ensure they are tight. Lock-tight is recommended on clutch and brake assembly bolts. clean bolts and holes with alcohol and a q-tip to ensure lock-tight adhesion.
You will be tempted to upgrade some of the parts to aluminum. But let me tell you, aluminum is unforgiving, breaks and destroys everything behind it. The High Strength ABS Plastic will give and bounce back without damage. Many plastic components are way better.
