Rovan 36CC Short Course Truck Race Ready RTR 1/5 Scale BLT360 Green

The Rovan 36CC Short Course truck delivers true 1/5 scale gasoline performance for drivers who demand power, durability, and race-ready capability. From the start, this large-scale platform combines a proven 36cc gasoline engine with a reinforced chassis, allowing consistent performance across dirt, gravel, and open off-road terrain. As a result, this short course truck suits both aggressive bashers and competitive drivers who want dependable large-scale control.

36CC Short Course Power and Drivetrain Performance

At the core of this 36CC Short Course platform sits a four-point fixed 36cc gasoline engine designed for strong torque and reliable throttle response. Because gasoline power delivers sustained runtime, drivers enjoy longer sessions without frequent refueling. In addition, the Dominator side exhaust improves exhaust flow while producing an aggressive sound profile.

Power transfers through a robust drivetrain featuring a multi-stage differential system. Consequently, acceleration remains smooth while traction stays predictable. The wear-resistant 8000 RPM clutch manages power delivery efficiently, which helps protect drivetrain components during hard launches and high-load driving.

Chassis Design and Suspension Control

The Rovan BLT360 Green chassis uses a 5mm CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum hard-anodized base. Because of this construction, the chassis resists flex under stress while maintaining proper suspension geometry. Furthermore, front and rear anti-tilt bars work together with 7mm hydraulic shocks to control body roll and improve stability at speed.

Additionally, reinforced shock absorber brackets and a rigid suspension layout allow the truck to absorb impacts without transferring damage to critical components. As a result, the truck remains composed during jumps, braking, and fast directional changes.

36CC Short Course Dimensions and Hardware

Built to full 1/5 scale proportions, this short course truck measures approximately 965 x 527 x 311 mm. With a long wheelbase and wide stance, it delivers planted handling and confident cornering. Moreover, high-performance nail off-road tires provide reliable grip across loose and hard surfaces.

The split PC body shell mounts over a full protective roll cage. Therefore, internal components remain shielded during rollovers and rough driving. At the same time, the easy-to-remove cage simplifies maintenance and inspection.

Electronics and Control System

Control comes from a 2.4G six-channel RC-X6 radio system. Although the truck primarily uses two channels, the additional adjustment capability allows fine tuning. As a result, drivers can dial in steering and throttle response for different surfaces.

High-strength 60KG metal gear servos handle both steering and throttle duties. Because these servos resist wear, steering accuracy remains consistent even under heavy load and repeated impacts. Powering the electronics, a 6V 4500 mAh NiMH battery delivers reliable runtime and stable voltage.

Assembly and Operation

Out of the Box: Ready to race once the wheels are installed and the car battery has been charged. Minimum 2 hours charge recommended.

Battery Charging

The car features a charging plug and comes with a USB charger. No disassembly required for charging. Allow battery to cool down for 30 minutes after full charge before operation. Remove charger within 30 minutes of full charge (green light) to prolong battery life. Store battery fully charged.

Crash Durability

Minor crashes are unlikely to cause significant damage. These cars are tough.

Fuel Mixing

Uses a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio (151.4 ml per gallon). Fill the small compartment of the mixing jug to the 25:1 line with oil, then fill the gas compartment to the same line. Use non-synthetic, mineral-based 2-cycle oil. Other suitable brands may also be used.

Radio Setup

This 6-channel radio essentially only uses 2 channels with this car. Trim adjustments are located under the rear cover. Top left controls steering trim, top right controls throttle and brake trim, bottom left adjusts steering control extents, and bottom right adjusts throttle control extents.

Starting Instructions

Ensure the car and radio are powered on and responding.
Set the choke on the right side of the car (red lever on the carburetor) to the vertical closed position.
Press the primer bulb on top of the carburetor 3 to 4 times, or once fuel is visible.
Gently pull the starter rope until it engages, then pull swiftly using short quick pulls.
Crank until the engine fires, usually within 1 to 3 pulls.
Turn off the choke, then pull the rope 1 or 2 times to start the engine.
Never crank more than 3 times with the choke on.

Break-In Process

Initial Run: Start by running the car at idle to 1/4 throttle or less for about 5 minutes. Let the engine cool down completely after this run.

Second Run: Repeat the same process for 10 minutes, then allow it to cool.

Third Run: Increase throttle slightly while remaining cautious. Because new engines generate more heat, limit runtime to 8 to 10 minutes before cooling.

Subsequent Runs: Continue for approximately five heat cycles while monitoring airflow and debris. A clean engine runs cooler.

Final Break-In: After these runs, operate the truck at full throttle and allow it to burn through a full tank of fuel.

Post-Break-In: Check and snug the exhaust pipe after break-in. Before each run, inspect bolts throughout the truck and apply thread-locker to clutch and brake assembly hardware.

Although aluminum upgrades may seem appealing, aluminum transfers impact force. In contrast, high-strength ABS plastic flexes and absorbs shock, which helps prevent secondary damage.
