Description

  • Gas Powered RC Car Rovan F5 1/5 Scale Overview

The Gas Powered RC Car Rovan F5 is a true 1/5 scale 4WD gasoline street racing platform designed for speed, stability, and mechanical realism. It uses a genuine 32cc air-cooled two-stroke engine with a four-point fixed mount. As a result, this gas powered RC car delivers strong acceleration, consistent throttle response, and authentic engine sound during high-speed runs.

Rovan builds the F5 on a heavy-duty 5mm CNC 6061-T6 aluminum alloy chassis. Consequently, the platform remains rigid under load while maintaining predictable handling on asphalt and smooth surfaces.

    Chassis, Drivetrain, and Suspension

This 1/5 scale gas powered RC car features a shaft-driven 4WD system with front and rear metal differentials and a center straight transmission. In addition, an integrated clutch cup with an 8000 RPM wear-resistant clutch manages power smoothly. Dual disc brakes provide strong and reliable stopping power.

Seven-millimeter hydraulic shocks control weight transfer and improve traction during acceleration and braking. Moreover, CNC metal brackets and reinforced mounting points increase durability for extended street driving sessions. A PC supercar body shell, front turbulence undertray, side chassis spoilers, and rear collision structure further enhance high-speed stability.

    Engine and Exhaust Performance

At the core of the Rovan F5 sits a 32cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, two-stroke gasoline engine. The stainless steel exhaust supports efficient heat management and dependable operation. Therefore, power delivery remains smooth and controlled even during sustained high-RPM driving.

    Electronics and Radio System

A 2.4G six-channel RC-X6 radio system provides stable signal performance and precise control. Electronics draw power from a 6V 4500mAh NiMH battery. Steering is handled by dual 40KG digital metal-gear servos with CNC servo arms, while a dedicated 40KG metal-gear servo controls throttle and braking. As a result, steering response stays crisp and predictable. Second-generation F5 road tires provide consistent grip on paved surfaces.

Assembly and Operation – Gas Powered RC Car

Out of the Box: Ready to race once the wheels are installed and the car battery has been charged. A minimum two-hour charge is recommended.

    Battery Charging:
The car includes a charging plug and USB charger, so charging requires no disassembly. Allow the battery to cool for 30 minutes after a full charge before operation. Remove the charger within 30 minutes of reaching full charge to extend battery life. Store the battery fully charged when not in use.

    Crash Durability:
Minor crashes rarely cause significant damage. The chassis and suspension absorb impacts effectively during normal street driving.

Fuel Mixing – Gas Powered RC Car

Use a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio, equal to 151.4 ml of oil per gallon of gasoline. First, fill the oil compartment of the mixing jug to the 25:1 mark. Then, fill the gasoline compartment to the same level. Use non-synthetic, mineral-based two-cycle oil. Other compatible mineral oils may also be used.

    Radio Setup and Operation

This six-channel radio primarily uses two channels. Trim adjustments sit under the rear transmitter cover and control steering trim, throttle and brake trim, steering travel, and throttle travel.

    Starting Instructions

Ensure the car and radio power on and respond correctly.
Set the choke to the vertical closed position.
Prime the carburetor three to four times, or until fuel becomes visible.
Pull the starter gently until engagement, then use short, quick pulls.
Once the engine fires, turn off the choke and pull again to start.
Never crank more than three times with the choke engaged.

Break-In Process – Gas Powered RC Car

Initial Run: Idle to one-quarter throttle for approximately five minutes, then allow the engine to cool completely.
Second Run: Repeat the process for ten minutes, then cool down.
Third Run: Increase throttle slightly and run for eight to ten minutes, then cool.
Subsequent Runs: Continue for about five cycles while monitoring airflow and debris.
Final Break-In: Run at full throttle and burn through one full tank of fuel.
Post-Break-In: Check and snug the exhaust pipe.

Before each run, inspect all bolts and fasteners. Apply thread locker to clutch and brake bolts after cleaning threads with alcohol.

Although aluminum upgrades may appear appealing, aluminum transfers impact energy and can cause secondary damage. High-strength ABS plastic flexes and recovers, making it better suited for high-speed RC use.
