Clear F5 Overview
The Clear F5 is a high-performance 1/5 scale gasoline RC racing car designed for asphalt, parking lots, and other smooth paved surfaces. This Rofun F5 features a clear unpainted polycarbonate body that can be customized with your preferred paint colors and design.
A 32cc two-stroke gasoline engine, full-time four-wheel drive, three differentials, reinforced aluminum chassis, dual steering servos, hydraulic suspension, and aerodynamic road-racing platform provide strong acceleration, stability, and responsive handling.
The car arrives nearly ready to run. Paint the clear body if desired, install the wheels, charge the onboard battery, install the required transmitter batteries, add properly mixed gasoline and two-cycle oil, and complete the recommended engine break-in process before full-throttle operation.
32cc Engine and Exhaust
The Rofun F5 uses a 32cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, two-stroke gasoline engine secured to the chassis by a four-point mounting system. The engine provides strong acceleration, responsive throttle control, and the authentic sound and operation of a gasoline-powered race car.
A stainless steel performance exhaust supports efficient exhaust flow and dependable operation during sustained high-RPM driving. The reinforced clutch and drivetrain transfer engine power through the four-wheel-drive system.
Four-Wheel-Drive System
A full-time shaft-driven 4WD system sends power through front, center, and rear differentials. This design improves acceleration, traction, and stability during high-speed street driving.
The three-differential system allows the front and rear wheels to respond properly during cornering while maintaining controlled power distribution. Dual-disc braking provides strong, balanced stopping performance.
Aluminum Chassis and Suspension
The 5mm CNC one-piece 6061-T6 aluminum chassis provides a rigid foundation that resists flex during acceleration, braking, and high-speed cornering.
Seven-millimeter hydraulic shock absorbers manage weight transfer and help keep the road tires planted during acceleration and braking. CNC metal brackets and reinforced mounting points improve durability during extended racing sessions.
Steering and Radio System
Two 40KG digital metal-gear steering servos equipped with CNC servo arms provide strong and responsive steering control. A separate 40KG metal-gear servo operates the throttle and braking system.
The included RC-X6 2.4GHz six-channel radio system provides stable signal performance and precise control. A rechargeable 6V 4500mAh NiMH onboard battery powers the receiver and servos.
Clear Unpainted Body
The clear polycarbonate body allows the owner to create a completely custom paint design. Polycarbonate bodies are painted from the inside so the clear outer surface protects the finished paint from scratches and fuel residue.

Assembly and Operation
Out of the Box
Ready to race once the wheels are installed and the onboard battery has been charged. A minimum two-hour charge is recommended before the first run.
Painting the Clear Body
Paint the inside of the body using Tamiya polycarbonate PS paint for proper adhesion and durability.
For a deeper metalflake appearance, apply a very light coat of clear and then sprinkle a glitter additive, metalflake, or pearl while the paint remains wet. Back it with your preferred colors for a stronger finish.
Practice the painting process first on a scrap piece of plexiglass. Many local lumberyards can provide small leftover or damaged pieces for paint testing.
Battery Charging
The car features a charging plug and includes a USB charger. No disassembly is required for charging. Allow the battery to cool for 30 minutes after reaching a full charge before operating the car.
Disconnect the charger within 30 minutes after the green full-charge light appears to help prolong battery life. Store the battery fully charged. A recommended countdown timer can help track charging time.
Crash Durability
Minor crashes are unlikely to cause significant damage. These cars are tough, but responsible operation and routine inspections are still required.
Fuel Mixing
Use a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio, equal to approximately 151.4ml of oil per gallon of gasoline. Fill the small compartment of the supplied mixing jug to the 25:1 line with oil, and then fill the gasoline compartment to its corresponding 25:1 line.
Use non-synthetic, mineral-based two-cycle oil. We have had excellent results with Evinrude Johnson Premium TC-W3 Mineral Two-Cycle Oil, UPC 745419363093. It helps minimize carbon buildup and reduce spark-plug fouling. Other suitable mineral-based two-cycle oils may also be used.
Radio Controls
The six-channel radio primarily uses two channels with this car. The four adjustments located beneath the rear radio cover control the following functions:
- Top left: Steering trim
- Top right: Throttle and brake trim
- Bottom left: Steering control extent
- Bottom right: Throttle control extent
Starting Instructions
- Make sure the car and radio are powered on and responding correctly.
- Move the red choke lever on the right side of the carburetor into the vertical closed position.
- Press the primer bulb on top of the carburetor three or four times, or until fuel becomes visible.
- Gently pull the starter rope until it engages, and then pull it swiftly using short, quick pulls. Never pull the rope completely out.
- Continue until the engine fires, usually within one to three pulls. Never pull more than three times with the choke closed.
- Open the choke and pull the starter rope one or two additional times to start the engine.
Important: Never pull the starter more than three times with the choke closed. Refer to this starting guide for additional help.
Break-In Process
Initial Run
Run the car at idle to no more than one-quarter throttle for approximately five minutes. Allow the engine to cool completely afterward.
Second Run
Repeat the process for approximately ten minutes, and then allow the engine to cool completely.
Third Run
You may begin increasing the throttle slightly. A new engine produces additional heat because of increased internal friction. Run it for eight to ten minutes and allow it to cool completely.
Subsequent Runs
Continue this process for approximately five runs. Check regularly for dirt, leaves, or other debris that could restrict engine cooling. A clean engine runs cooler.
Final Break-In
After completing the gradual break-in runs, the car may be operated at full throttle through a complete tank of fuel.
Post-Break-In Inspection
Check and tighten the exhaust system after the initial break-in process.
Before every run, check bolts throughout the car to make sure they remain tight. Threadlocker is recommended on clutch and brake assembly bolts. Clean the bolts and threaded holes with alcohol and a cotton swab before applying threadlocker to ensure proper adhesion.
