Rovan 360 Baja Buggy Long Body 1/5 Scale Overview

The Rovan 360 Long Body is a 1/5 scale gasoline buggy built for drivers who want a stable, durable, and proven large-scale off-road platform. Powered by a 36cc air-cooled two-stroke gasoline engine, the Rovan 360 delivers strong torque, smooth throttle response, and consistent power across dirt, grass, and open terrain.

Rovan designs the 360 platform with a long body layout that improves stability at speed while maintaining predictable handling. High-strength ABS components allow the chassis to flex under impact, which helps prevent damage during aggressive bashing and extended run sessions.

Chassis, Drivetrain, and Suspension

The Rovan 360 Baja Buggy uses a rear-wheel-drive layout with a rear axle brake to simplify maintenance and improve long-term reliability. A metal differential case and an 8000 RPM wear-resistant clutch manage drivetrain loads effectively during acceleration and braking.

Second-generation reinforced front and rear suspension components improve durability and control. In addition, metal shock absorbers manage suspension travel and keep the buggy composed over uneven surfaces. Front and rear anti-roll bars reduce body roll and improve cornering stability.

Engine and Exhaust Performance

At the core of the Rovan 360 sits a 36cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, two-stroke gasoline engine with a four-point fixed dual-ring design. The engine uses a Walbro 1107 carburetor and an NGK spark plug for reliable starting and consistent tuning. A Dominator exhaust pipe supports efficient airflow and responsive throttle input. As a result, power delivery remains smooth and predictable during extended runs.

Electronics and Radio System

Electronics include a 2.4G six-channel radio system that provides stable signal performance during off-road operation. A high-torque metal gear steering servo delivers precise control, while a metal gear throttle servo manages acceleration and braking. A built-in SC 6V 2000mAh battery supplies consistent power to the electronics.

Assembly and Operation – Rovan 360

Out of the Box: Ready to race once the wheels are installed and the car battery has been charged. A minimum two-hour charge is recommended.

Battery Charging:
The buggy includes a charging plug and USB charger, allowing charging without disassembly. Allow the battery to cool for 30 minutes after a full charge before operation. Remove the charger within 30 minutes of reaching full charge to extend battery life. Store the battery fully charged when not in use.

Crash Durability:
Minor crashes rarely cause significant damage. The flexible ABS chassis and reinforced suspension absorb impacts effectively during normal off-road driving.

Fuel Mixing – Rovan 360

Use a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio, equal to 151.4 ml of oil per gallon of gasoline. First, fill the oil compartment of the mixing jug to the 25:1 mark. Then, fill the gasoline compartment to the same level. Use non-synthetic, mineral-based two-cycle oil. Other compatible mineral oils may also be used.

Radio Setup and Operation

This six-channel radio primarily uses two channels. Trim adjustments are located under the rear transmitter cover and control steering trim, throttle and brake trim, steering travel, and throttle travel.

Starting Instructions

Ensure the car and radio power on and respond correctly.
Set the choke to the vertical closed position.
Prime the carburetor three to four times, or until fuel becomes visible.
Pull the starter gently until engagement, then use short, quick pulls.
Once the engine fires, turn off the choke and pull again to start.
Never crank more than three times with the choke engaged.

Break-In Process – Rovan 360 Baja Buggy

Initial Run: Run the buggy at idle to one-quarter throttle for approximately five minutes, then allow the engine to cool completely.

Second Run: Repeat the process for ten minutes, then cool down.

Third Run: Increase throttle slightly and run for eight to ten minutes, then cool.

Subsequent Runs: Continue for about five cycles while monitoring airflow and debris. A clean engine runs cooler.

Final Break-In: Run at full throttle and burn through one full tank of fuel.

Post-Break-In: Check and snug the exhaust pipe.

Before each run, inspect all bolts and fasteners. Apply thread locker to clutch and brake assembly bolts after cleaning threads with alcohol.

High-strength ABS plastic components flex and recover from impacts, making them better suited for off-road RC use than rigid aluminum upgrades.
