The Rovan F5 32cc RC Gasoline Racing Car 4WD 1/5 Scale is a true large-scale on-road racing platform built for speed, stability, and mechanical realism. This is a genuine, high-strength Grade A model, not a factory second, grade B, or older unit. Rovan engineers the F5 specifically for high-speed asphalt driving, combining rigid CNC construction with precision drivetrain geometry to deliver consistent handling and dependable performance.
A 32cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, two-stroke gasoline engine powers the platform. As a result, the Rovan F5 delivers strong acceleration, smooth throttle response, and authentic engine sound during extended high-RPM runs. The black supercar body completes the low-profile racing appearance while maintaining aerodynamic stability.
Chassis, Drivetrain, and Suspension
This 1/5 scale Rovan F5 uses a 5mm CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum alloy chassis that resists flex under load. Consequently, suspension geometry remains stable and predictable at speed. A shaft-driven 4WD transmission distributes power evenly through front and rear metal differentials and a reinforced straight-cut center drivetrain.
Front and rear 7mm hydraulic shock absorbers manage suspension movement and control weight transfer during acceleration and braking. In addition, second-generation F5 road tires mounted on dedicated wheels provide consistent grip across paved surfaces.
Engine and Exhaust Performance
At the core of the Rovan F5 sits a 32cc four-point fixed gasoline engine tuned for durability and sustained output. A stainless-steel exhaust pipe supports efficient heat management and stable operating temperatures. Therefore, power delivery remains smooth and controlled even during long high-speed sessions.
An 8,000 RPM wear-resistant clutch and integrated clutch cup manage engagement precisely, while the reinforced metal clutch support cover protects drivetrain components during aggressive driving.
Braking and Steering Control
Front and rear dual-disc braking systems provide strong and balanced stopping power. As a result, braking remains predictable even at high speed.
Dual 40KG digital metal-gear steering servos drive the symmetrical steering system through CNC servo arms. Meanwhile, a dedicated 40KG metal-gear throttle servo controls acceleration and braking precisely. This configuration delivers crisp response and stable tracking through high-speed corners.
Electronics and Radio System
The Rovan F5 includes a 2.4GHz six-channel RC-X6 radio system designed for reliable signal performance. Electronics draw power from a 6V SC4500mAh NiMH battery that supports extended run time. Therefore, drivers can complete long sessions without frequent charging interruptions.
Body and Aerodynamic Design
A PC integrated supercar body shell covers the chassis and enhances airflow. Front turbulence undertray, bilateral chassis spoilers, and rear collision-avoidance turbulence structures improve stability at speed. Assembly and Operation – Rovan F5
Out of the Box
The car is ready to race once the wheels are installed and the onboard battery has been fully charged. A minimum two-hour charge is recommended before the first run.Battery Charging
The vehicle includes a charging plug and USB charger, allowing charging without disassembly. After a full charge, allow the battery to cool for approximately 30 minutes before operation. Remove the charger within 30 minutes of reaching full charge and store the battery fully charged when not in use.Crash Durability
Minor crashes rarely cause significant damage. In practice, the reinforced chassis and suspension absorb typical on-road impacts without compromising alignment.Fuel Mixing – Rovan F5
Use a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio, equal to 151.4 ml of oil per gallon of gasoline. First, fill the oil compartment of the mixing jug to the 25:1 mark. Then, fill the gasoline compartment to the same level. Use non-synthetic, mineral-based two-cycle oil. Many drivers prefer premium TC-W3 mineral oils; however, other compatible mineral oils may also be used.
Radio Setup and Operation
The included six-channel radio primarily operates on two channels for this car. Steering trim, throttle and brake trim, and travel limits adjust through the four trim controls located under the rear transmitter cover. Install four AA batteries in the transmitter before use.
Starting Instructions
Ensure the car and radio system are powered on and responding correctly.
Set the choke lever on the carburetor to the vertical closed position.
Press the primer bulb three to four times, or until fuel becomes visible.
Pull the starter gently until engagement, then use short, quick pulls.
Crank until the engine fires, typically within one to three pulls.
Turn off the choke and pull again to start the engine.
Never crank more than three times with the choke engaged.Break-In Process – Rovan F5
Initial Run
Run the car at idle to one-quarter throttle for approximately five minutes, then allow the engine to cool completely.Second Run
Repeat the process for ten minutes, then allow cooling.Third Run
Increase throttle slightly and run for eight to ten minutes, then cool down.Subsequent Runs
Continue for approximately five cycles while monitoring airflow and debris.Final Break-In
Run at full throttle and burn through one full tank of fuel.Post-Break-In
Check and snug the exhaust fasteners after the initial break-in process.Before each run, inspect all bolts and fasteners. Apply thread locker to clutch and brake hardware after cleaning threads with alcohol.
