Rovan Q360 Shorty Red 36cc 1/5 Scale Gasoline Buggy

High-Performance Power and Real Racing Capability

The Rovan Q360 Shorty delivers serious performance for large-scale RC enthusiasts who want power, durability, control, and extreme fun. Powered by a 36cc single-cylinder air-cooled 2-stroke gasoline engine with a standard Walbro 1107 carburetor and NGK spark plug, this 1/5 scale buggy produces strong acceleration, excellent throttle response, and reliable long-run consistency. Because it is engineered with reinforced components, it handles hard driving conditions with confidence while still remaining responsive and enjoyable to control.

Chassis, Dimensions, and Construction Strength

Built for real-world use, the Rovan Q360 features ABS plastic and metal construction, delivering the right balance of strength and flexibility. The chassis measures 33.1 x 18.9 x 11.8 inches, with a 22.4 inch wheelbase, 15.6 inch front tread, and 15.7 inch rear tread, giving it a planted stance and predictable handling characteristics. Rear-wheel drive combined with rear-axle braking provides controlled stopping power, while a metal differential and CNC shock absorbers help maintain traction and stability across demanding surfaces. High-strength nylon components provide impact resistance without the brittleness of aluminum parts.

Electronics, Control, and Remote System

The buggy includes a 2.4GHz 6-channel radio system with strong signal range up to about 492 feet, allowing dependable control. Steering is powered by a 60KG metal-gear steering servo, while throttle duties are handled by an 18KG metal-gear servo, ensuring durability under load. The onboard power system includes an SC6V 2000mAh battery, and the included USB charger allows simple charging without disassembly.

Assembly and Operation Information

Initial Setup

Out of the box, the Rovan Q360 is ready to run once the wheels are installed and the battery is charged. A minimum 2-hour battery charge is recommended before first use.

Battery Charging Guidelines

The included USB charging system allows charging without removing the battery. After charging completes, allow the battery to cool for 30 minutes before operation, remove the charger within 30 minutes of full charge, and store fully charged when possible.

Crash Durability

Minor crashes are generally not likely to cause serious damage when operated responsibly.

Fuel Mixing and Break-In Guidance

This buggy uses a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil mix. Fill your premix container correctly and use quality mineral-based 2-cycle oil to help minimize carbon buildup and spark plug fouling. After fueling, properly break in the engine through staged running cycles, gradually increasing throttle time while allowing full cool-downs between runs. After initial break-in, always check exhaust mounting and key hardware.

Radio Trim Adjustments

The 6-channel radio primarily uses two channels with this model. Adjustments for trim and travel limits are located under the rear cover of the transmitter, allowing precise steering and throttle tuning.

Maintenance Discipline and Hardware Checks

Before every run, check hardware and ensure bolts are tight. Thread-locker is recommended on clutch and brake hardware after cleaning threads.

Important Ownership Advice

You may feel tempted to upgrade to aluminum parts, however aluminum often transfers impact and can cause more serious damage behind failure points. The high-strength ABS and reinforced nylon components used on the Rovan Q360 are designed to flex, absorb impact, and return to shape, which often results in better real-world durability.
