Description
Rovan Racing BLT360 1/5 Scale Short Course Truck Overview
The Rovan Racing BLT360 is a race-ready 1/5 scale short course truck engineered for large-scale gasoline performance, durability, and controlled handling. Built on the proven BLT360 platform, this truck delivers strong power, stable tracking, and authentic short course realism. As a result, it performs confidently on dirt, grass, gravel, and open off-road terrain.
Designed for serious bashers and racers alike, the Rovan Racing BLT360 combines a reinforced drivetrain, high-capacity fuel system, and competition-grade suspension. Consequently, it delivers consistent performance run after run while maintaining serviceability and long-term reliability.
Chassis, Drivetrain, and Suspension Design
The BLT360 chassis uses a 5mm CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum hard-anodized plate for strength and rigidity. In addition, the reinforced structure resists flex under acceleration and braking. A full roll cage protects internal components while allowing quick body removal for routine maintenance.
Power transfers through a multi-stage differential system with front, center, and rear differentials. As a result, torque distributes evenly under load. The drivetrain includes front CVD shafts, reinforced rear drive shafts, and a metal clutch cup support that improves durability. Moreover, the 8000 RPM wear-resistant clutch ensures smooth and predictable engagement.
Suspension performance comes from 7mm hydraulic shocks paired with front and rear anti-roll bars. Therefore, the truck remains planted during high-speed cornering and while absorbing rough terrain impacts.
Engine and Fuel System Performance
At the core of the Rovan Racing BLT360 is a 36cc four-point fixed gasoline engine. This engine delivers strong torque, aggressive acceleration, and realistic exhaust sound. Additionally, the Dominator side exhaust improves throttle response while maintaining durability under extended run conditions.
A large 800cc fuel tank extends runtime, allowing longer sessions without interruption. As a result, drivers spend more time running and less time refueling between sessions.
Electronics and Radio System
The truck includes a 2.4G six-channel RC-X6 radio system for reliable control. Although normal operation only requires two channels, the additional channels support future upgrades. Furthermore, dual 60KG metal-gear servos with CNC metal steering arms deliver precise steering and throttle response under heavy load.
A 6V 4500mAh NiMH battery powers the onboard electronics, providing consistent voltage and dependable runtime throughout extended use.
Assembly and Operation – Rovan Racing BLT360
Out of the Box: Ready to race once the wheels are installed and the car battery has been charged. A minimum 2-hour charge is recommended.
Battery Charging:
The truck features a charging plug and includes a USB charger. No disassembly is required for charging. Allow the battery to cool for 30 minutes after a full charge before operation. Remove the charger within 30 minutes of full charge (green light) to prolong battery life. Store the battery fully charged.

Crash Durability:
Minor crashes are unlikely to cause significant damage. These trucks handle aggressive short course driving with confidence.
Fuel Mixing – Rovan Racing BLT360
Use a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio (151.4 ml per gallon). First, fill the small compartment of the mixing jug to the 25:1 line with oil. Then, fill the gasoline compartment to the same line. Use non-synthetic, mineral-based 2-cycle oil. Other suitable brands may also be used.
Radio Setup and Operation
This 6-channel radio primarily uses two channels for operation. Trim adjustments are located under the rear cover on the transmitter:
Top left – steering trim
Top right – throttle and brake trim
Bottom left – steering control extents
Bottom right – throttle control extents
Starting Instructions
Ensure the car and radio are powered on and responding.
Set the choke on the right side of the car (red lever on the carburetor) to the vertical closed position.
Press the primer bulb three to four times, or until fuel becomes visible.
Gently pull the starter rope until it engages, then pull swiftly using short, quick pulls.
Crank until the engine fires, usually within one to three pulls.
Turn off the choke, then pull the rope one to two times to start the engine.
Never crank more than three times with the choke on.
Break-In Process – Rovan Racing BLT360
Initial Run: Run at idle to 1/4 throttle for about five minutes, then allow the engine to cool completely.
Second Run: Repeat the process for ten minutes, then allow the engine to cool.
Third Run: Increase throttle slightly and run for eight to ten minutes, then cool down.
Subsequent Runs: Continue for approximately five runs while monitoring airflow and clearing debris as needed.
Final Break-In: After these runs, operate at full throttle and burn through a full tank of fuel.
Post-Break-In: Check and snug the exhaust pipe after completing the break-in process.
Before each run, check bolts throughout the truck to ensure they remain tight. Use thread locker on clutch and brake assembly bolts. Clean bolts and threaded holes with alcohol and a cotton swab to ensure proper adhesion.
Although aluminum upgrades may seem appealing, aluminum components transfer impact energy and can cause secondary damage. High-strength ABS plastic components flex and recover, making them better suited for off-road use.
