Buggy Gas Powered Engine and Performance

This Buggy Gas Powered Rovan 5B runs a Genuine 29cc single-cylinder, air-cooled two-stroke gasoline engine capable of 40MPH+ in stock configuration, depending on conditions. Power delivery remains responsive through an 8,000 RPM clutch and a tuned exhaust system that enhances throttle response and sound. A 2.4GHz 6-channel radio system offers stable control at distances over 600 feet, while the built-in SC6V 2000mAh battery supports extended runtime. All-metal throttle and steering gears improve durability during aggressive driving.

Buggy Gas Powered Dimensions and Chassis Hardware

The Rovan RC 1/5 Scale 5B Buggy Gas Powered chassis provides excellent stability and balance. With a wide stance and a long wheelbase, the buggy tracks predictably across dirt, gravel, and open terrain. Second-generation wasteland tires mounted on upgraded wheel hubs enhance traction, while reinforced suspension components with 6mm shocks absorb impacts effectively during high-speed runs.

    Assembly and Operation

Out of the Box: Ready to race once the wheels are installed and the car battery has been charged. Minimum 2 hours charge recommended.

    Battery Charging

The car features a charging plug and comes with a USB charger. No disassembly required for charging. Allow battery to cool down for 30 minutes after full charge before operation. Remove charger within 30 minutes of full charge (green light) to prolong battery life. Store battery fully charged.

    Crash Durability

Minor crashes are unlikely to cause significant damage. These buggies are tough and designed to handle aggressive off-road driving.

    Fuel Mixing

Uses a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio (151.4ml per gallon). Fill the small compartment of the mixing jug to the 25:1 line with oil, then fill the gas compartment to the same line. Use non-synthetic, mineral-based 2-cycle oil to reduce carbon buildup and prevent plug fouling. Other suitable brands may also be used.

    Radio Setup

This 6-channel radio essentially only uses 2 channels with this car. Trim is on the four adjustments under the cover on the back of the radio. Top left controls steering trim, top right controls throttle and brake trim, bottom left adjusts steering control extents, and bottom right adjusts throttle control extents.

    Starting Instructions

Ensure the car and radio are powered on and responding.
Set the choke on the right side of the car (red lever on the carburetor) to the vertical closed position.
Press the primer bulb on top of the carburetor 3 to 4 times, or once fuel is visible.
Gently pull the starter rope until it engages, then pull swiftly. Do not pull the rope out completely; use short quick pulls.
Crank until the engine fires (usually 1 to 3 pulls).
Turn off the choke, then pull the rope 1 or 2 times to start the engine.
Never crank more than 3 times with the choke on.

    Break-In Process

Initial Run: Start by running the car at idle to 1/4 throttle or less for about 5 minutes. Let the engine cool down completely after this run.

Second Run: Repeat the same process for 10 minutes, then allow it to cool down.

Third Run: You can start pushing it a little harder; however, a new engine generates more heat due to increased friction. Run for 8 to 10 minutes, then let it cool.

Subsequent Runs: Continue the process for about five runs, being mindful of any debris that could block cooling. A clean engine runs cooler.

Final Break-In: After these runs, you can run the car at full throttle and let it burn through an entire tank of fuel.

Post-Break-In: Be sure to check and snug up the exhaust pipe after the initial break-in process.

Before each run, check bolts throughout the car to ensure they are tight. Lock-tight is recommended on clutch and brake assembly bolts. Clean bolts and holes with alcohol and a Q-tip to ensure proper lock-tight adhesion.

    Durability Notes

You may feel tempted to upgrade parts to aluminum. However, aluminum is unforgiving and can break while damaging surrounding components. High-strength ABS plastic flexes and rebounds without damage, which is why many plastic components perform better in off-road conditions.
