Description

Overview of the HSP Buggy 94054S 1/5 Scale Platform

The HSP Buggy 94054S is a 1/5 scale, gas powered 4WD Baja buggy engineered for serious off-road driving. From the start, this HSP Buggy delivers large-scale realism, strong performance, and rugged durability. Additionally, it features a factory-installed 32CC two-stroke gasoline engine that provides authentic sound, torque, and acceleration. Because each unit ships with a random factory body color, every buggy has a unique appearance straight out of the box.

Moreover, this HSP Buggy is built for drivers who want a true large-scale experience without sacrificing reliability. As a result, it suits both intermediate hobbyists and experienced enthusiasts who demand power, control, and toughness.

Engine and Performance of the HSP Buggy

At the heart of the HSP Buggy sits a 32CC gasoline-powered two-stroke engine designed for consistent output and long service life. Consequently, this engine delivers strong low-end torque and responsive throttle control. In addition, the 4WD drivetrain ensures power reaches all four wheels, which improves traction on dirt, gravel, grass, and uneven terrain.

Furthermore, the 9.6:1 gear ratio balances acceleration and top speed, making the HSP Buggy capable across a wide range of off-road conditions. Because of this setup, drivers enjoy confident handling during aggressive driving and stable performance at speed.

Size, Scale, and Chassis Design of the HSP Buggy

Built to true 1/5 scale proportions, the HSP Buggy features an imposing stance that enhances stability. The chassis measures approximately 800mm long, 480mm wide, and 275mm high. As a result, the buggy remains planted during acceleration, braking, and cornering.

In addition, the wide footprint improves balance when driving over rough terrain. Because of the reinforced construction, the chassis resists flex while protecting internal components. Therefore, the HSP Buggy maintains durability even under repeated off-road abuse.

HSP Buggy Drivetrain and Handling Characteristics

The HSP Buggy uses a full-time 4WD system to distribute power evenly. Consequently, traction improves in loose or uneven conditions. Moreover, the drivetrain components are designed to handle the stress generated by a large-scale gasoline engine.

Because steering precision matters at this scale, the buggy includes a robust servo setup rated at 20KG and 9KG. As a result, steering response stays consistent even under load, while throttle control remains predictable.

Electronics and Radio System

Control comes from a 2.4GHz radio system that provides a reliable operating range of up to 200 meters. Additionally, the radio system minimizes interference, which improves confidence during long-distance runs. The included Ni-MH 6V 2500mAh battery powers onboard electronics and supports extended driving sessions.

Although four AA batteries are required for the transmitter and are not included, setup remains straightforward. Therefore, drivers can prepare the HSP Buggy quickly and get on the track without complication.

HSP Buggy Assembly and Operation

Out of the Box

Ready to race once the wheels are installed and the car battery has been charged. Minimum 2 hours charge recommended.

Battery Charging

The car features a charging plug and comes with a USB charger. No disassembly required for charging. Allow battery to cool down for 30 minutes after full charge before operation. Remove charger within 30 minutes of full charge (green light) to prolong battery life. Store battery fully charged. Recommended Countdown Timer: https://shorturl.at/FdYdP

Crash Durability

Minor crashes are unlikely to cause significant damage. These cars are tough!

Fuel Mixing for the HSP Buggy

Uses a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio (151.4ml per gallon). Fill the small compartment of the mixing jug to the 25:1 line with oil, then fill the gas compartment to the same line. Use Non-synthetic aka Mineral Based 2 cycle oil. Other brands can also be used.

Radio

This 6-channel radio essentially only uses 2 channels with this car. Trim is on the 4 adjustments under the cover on the back of the radio. Top left – steering trim, top right – throttle & brake trim, bottom left – steering control extents, bottom right – throttle control extents.

Starting Instructions for the HSP Buggy

Ensure the car and radio are powered on and responding.
Set the choke on the right side of the car (red lever on the carburetor) to the vertical closed position.
Press the primer bulb on top of the carburetor 3 to 4 times, or once fuel is visible.
Gently pull the starter rope until it engages, then pull swiftly. Do not pull the rope out completely; use short quick pulls.
Crank until the engine fires (usually 1 to 3 pulls).
Turn off the choke, then pull the rope 1 or 2 times to start the engine.
Never crank more than 3 times with the choke on.

Break-In Process for the HSP Buggy

Initial Run

Start by running the car at idle to 1/4 throttle or less for about 5 minutes. Let the engine cool down completely after this run.

Second Run

Repeat the same process for about 10 minutes. Then allow the engine to cool completely.

Third Run

Begin pushing the buggy a little harder. However, a new engine generates more heat due to increased friction. Run for 8 to 10 minutes, then let it cool.

Subsequent Runs

Continue this process for about five runs. Meanwhile, remain mindful of debris that could block cooling. A clean engine runs cooler.

HSP Buggy Final Break-In

After these runs, you can run the car at full throttle and let it burn through an entire tank of fuel.

Post-Break-In

Be sure to check and snug up the exhaust pipe after the initial break-in process. Before each run check bolts throughout the car to ensure they are tight. Lock-tight is recommended on clutch and brake assembly bolts. Clean bolts and holes with alcohol and a Q-tip to ensure lock-tight adhesion.

Materials and Durability Considerations

You may be tempted to upgrade some components to aluminum. However, aluminum is unforgiving and can transfer impact force into surrounding parts. In contrast, high-strength ABS plastic flexes and rebounds without damage. Therefore, many plastic components perform better during real-world off-road use.
