Rovan RC 1/5 Scale 5B Red 29cc Gasoline Ready To Run RC Buggy #09
Rovan RC 1/5 Scale Gasoline Buggy Overview
The rovan rc 1/5 5B Red #09 is a large scale gasoline powered RC buggy designed for durability, ease of use, and consistent off road performance. Built on a proven 1/5 scale platform, this ready to run buggy delivers strong torque, stable handling, and dependable operation straight out of the box. Because it arrives mostly assembled, it suits both first time large scale owners and experienced hobbyists.
29cc Gas Powered RC Buggy Performance
This buggy uses a 29cc single cylinder, air cooled, two stroke four point fixed gasoline engine that delivers smooth throttle response and strong low end power. An 8000 rpm clutch transfers power efficiently, while the rear axle brake provides controlled stopping. In addition, the dominator exhaust pipe improves exhaust flow, and the metal differential strengthens the drivetrain for long term use.
1/5 Scale RC Buggy Chassis, Suspension, and Tires
The chassis relies on high strength ABS plastic components that flex under impact and recover without transferring damage. Consequently, the vehicle tolerates rollovers and minor crashes effectively. Second generation reinforced front and rear suspensions improve strength while maintaining consistent handling. Moreover, 0.24 inch plastic shock absorbers absorb rough terrain, while second generation wasteland tires and wheels provide reliable traction on dirt, gravel, and open surfaces.
Large Scale RC Buggy Dimensions and Weight
Overall dimensions measure 32.17 inches long, 18.90 inches wide, and 10.04 inches high. Front track width measures 15.55 inches, while the rear track width measures 15.75 inches. Additionally, the wheelbase spans 22.44 inches. Net vehicle weight is 26.46 pounds, and gross shipping weight is 35.27 pounds. Packing size measures 33.46 by 18.50 by 11.42 inches.
RC Electronics and Radio Control for 1/5 Scale Vehicles
The vehicle includes a 15KG full metal gear throttle servo and a powerful 60KG metal gear steering servo, which together provide precise and responsive control. Furthermore, the non LCD 2.4G six channel RC X6 radio primarily uses two channels, while trim and endpoint adjustments remain accessible under the rear cover. A 6V SC2000 mAh battery powers the onboard electronics.
Ready To Run 1/5 Scale RC Buggy Assembly and Operation
Out of the box, the buggy is ready to race once the wheels are installed and the battery is fully charged. For best results, charge the battery for a minimum of two hours before initial use. Charging occurs through the built in charging plug using the included USB charger, so no disassembly is required. After charging, allow the battery to cool for 30 minutes, and then remove the charger within 30 minutes of reaching a full charge to extend battery life.
Gasoline RC Buggy Fuel Mixing and Engine Care
This vehicle requires a 25:1 gasoline to oil mixture, which equals 151.4 ml of oil per gallon of gasoline. Always use non synthetic, mineral based two cycle oil. Proper fuel mixing reduces carbon buildup, improves engine longevity, and helps prevent spark plug fouling. Therefore, careful preparation directly improves performance and reliability.
RC Buggy Starting Instructions
Before starting, power on the vehicle and the radio to confirm proper response. Next, set the choke lever on the carburetor to the closed vertical position. Then, prime the carburetor three to four times until fuel becomes visible. Gently pull the starter rope until engagement occurs, and then use short, quick pulls until the engine fires. Once the engine starts, turn off the choke and pull one to two additional times for stable operation.
1/5 Scale RC Engine Break In Procedure
Begin by running the buggy at idle to one quarter throttle for five minutes, and then allow the engine to cool completely. Afterward, repeat the process at low throttle for ten minutes and cool again. During the third run, gradually increase throttle for eight to ten minutes. Continue this cycle for approximately five runs. Finally, run the vehicle at full throttle through a complete tank of fuel. After break in, recheck and snug the exhaust pipe.
RC Buggy Maintenance and Safety Notes
Before each run, inspect all bolts and fasteners to ensure they remain tight. Apply thread lock to clutch and brake assembly bolts after cleaning threads with alcohol. Although aluminum upgrades may seem appealing, high strength ABS plastic components often perform better by absorbing impacts and preventing secondary damage.
